A Travessa

A Travessa is a restaurant which serves delicious food in a beautiful location. Set within a former 17th century convent, hidden in the back streets of Lapa (and I do mean hidden, took us 3 phone calls to the restaurant to find it). In the winter it wonderfully cosy with heavy velvet curtains, candlelight, vaulted ceilings and a roaring fire and in summer you can enjoy the secluded and peaceful cloistered courtyard. The restaurant is Belgian owned and was established in 1978. The restaurant is discreet and elegant and attracts a sophisticated crowd. The mouth watering Roast Pork is a must and a general mainstay of the seasonally changing menu. All of the food is beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks. Victoria Beckham, Alex Curran and Colleen Rooney once enjoyed a 4 hour boozy dinner here, so who knows who may be sat at the next table to you.
